Hyderabad: The Hayathnagar police on Saturday seized 600 bottles of liquor, which are being illegally transported to the neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh, a day before the municipal election results.
In view of the MLC election of graduates in Telangana tomorrow, the city police conducted a vehicle check on Outer Ring Road (ORR) of Koheda on National Highway 65, when police found a car carrying 600 bottles of liquor towards Vijayawada.
Two people in the car were identified as Damodar and Hari. During interrogation, the two confessed to illegally transporting liquor from Telangana and selling liquor in Andhra Pradesh.
Police said the price of liquor was lower in Telangana than in Andhra Pradesh. The price of the seized liquor bottles has been stated to be Rs 6 lakh.
