Intensive sanitisation campaign in Hyderabad due to covid growth

Hyderabad: Municipal authorities in Hyderabad conducted intensive cleaning operations on Sunday and sprayed sodium hypochlorite at several places in the city, witnessing a surge in covid-19 cases.

On the instructions of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development, K.T. Rama Rao, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), launched a cleanliness drive on a war footing.

Spraying of sodium hypochlorite was done twice a day in areas where more cases of covid were being reported.

The authorities have provided 3,000 liters of chemicals in each GHMC area.

Emergency teams have been formed at the zone and circle levels. Sprinkler works mainly included urban health centers, basti dawakhanas, places of worship, markets and other public places.

Telangana reported more than 5,000 cases in a 24-hour period on Sunday, the highest single-day increase since last year’s outbreak. Hyderabad alone accounted for over 700 cases.
