Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi is unhappy with the garbage heap

Hyderabad: Complaints of garbage piles on the city streets were made by both the citizens and the legislators, made Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi to keep a close watch on poor sanitation in Khairatabad and Charminar areas.

During an inspection Sunday, she expressed dissatisfaction over the garbage on the city’s streets.

She directed the GHMC officials to take immediate action to vacate it. After inspecting the biometric attendance of the workers, Vijayalakshmi expressed displeasure at having hired only 15 of the total 18 sanitation workers.

She directed the medical department to arrange for broom, bleaching powder and other necessary things after complaints by the sanitation department.

The mayor asked the officials to clean up the garbage heap in Jiyaguda and repair the Ramky plant, which turned dysfunctional.

She instructed Charminar Commissioner Ashok Samrat to remove garbage from the roads and maintain cleanliness after inspecting Petlaburaz, Shalibanda, Falaknuma and Charminar areas in the Charminar zone.

Later, she oversaw the sanitation works at Begum Bazaar, Chintal Basti and Osmangunj in the Khairatabad region.

She also went for bridge work in Falaknuma.
