Hyderabad: The State Cabinet on Tuesday took a slew of decisions including release of an ‘Annual Recruitment Calendar’ for filling vacant posts, release of Rs 1,200 crore to ensure adequate drinking water supply in the peripheral areas of Hyderabad city, and 50 per cent reservation for local students in residential welfare schools, among others. The Cabinet also discussed revision of land registration values and fee as well as development of layouts through land pooling in urban areas.
The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao at Pragathi Bhavan here directed the officials to identify all the vacancies in all government departments as per the new zonal system and prepare an ‘Annual Recruitment Calendar’ every year in order to fill vacant posts every year. Following a request from the Telangana Gazetted Officers Association and Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers Association, the Cabinet responded positively and instructed the officials to take up district-wise allocation of officers, employees, and also posts as per the new zonal system. The officials were also asked to identify vacant posts and fill them immediately as per the Annual Recruitment Calendar.
The State Cabinet also decided to continue with the meeting on Wednesday to discuss and initiate steps to identify the vacant posts in the government departments and fill them. The officials have been directed to attend the Cabinet meeting with details pertaining to all vacancies in all the departments at 2 pm on Wednesday. The Cabinet will also discuss other pending issues at the meeting.
The State Cabinet decided to allocate 50 per cent of the seats in residential schools to local students of respective Assembly constituencies. The government’s move would benefit local students ensuring that they continue with their education closer home. There are over 917 welfare residential schools and another 194 Model Schools across the State. The government is spending Rs.1.5 lakh per year on each student studying in government residential schools.
The Chief Minister directed the officials concerned to invite the local MLAs, Zilla Parishad chairpersons, municipal chairpersons and MPPs to attend the monthly meetings of the government residential schools without fail.
The Cabinet also approved release of Rs 1,200 crore to ensure adequate drinking water supply in the peripheral areas of Hyderabad city in addition to the already allocated funds in the budget. He also instructed the officials concerned to initiate immediate measures to prevent scarcity of drinking water in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas in future.
The Chief Minister also instructed the officials to ensure third wire (neutral) for power supply in all villages especially for street lights to prevent any inadvertent short circuits. The Cabinet asserted that the construction of Vaikuntadhamams in all the villages across the State should be completed within the next one month. He asked all the Ministers to monitor the works personally in their respective districts and ensure that all Vaikuntadhamams are completed without fail.
Ahead of the meeting, the Panchayat Raj and Municipal Administration departments tabled reports on progress of Palle Pragathi and Pattana Pragathi for discussion before the State Cabinet.
For the development of municipalities, the Cabinet decided to take up land pooling and develop layouts in urban areas. The Municipal Administration department officials were instructed to explore all the possibilities and formulate necessary guidelines in this regard. The Cabinet also discussed the pros and cons of the proposed revision of land registration value and fees in the State. It is proposed to rationalise the land registration value which is far lower than the market value.
During a discussion on the pandemic in the State, Health Secretary SAM Rizvi briefed the Cabinet about the prevailing situation in different districts, steps taken to check the spread of the virus and providing treatment as well as other field level observations. As per instructions of the Chief Minister, Rizvi headed a health officials’ team which toured seven border districts where Covid-19 was prevalent. The Cabinet discussed the availability of medicines, oxygen supplies and other infrastructure facilities as well as the preparedness of the State administration for the third wave of Coronavirus outbreak including vaccination, availability of beds and other facilities. The officials were instructed to take up another round of fever survey in the affected districts.
