Night curfew likely to be increased

Hyderabad: The state government is likely to extend the night curfew by at least 15 days as doctors, experts and scientists predict that corona virus cases may reach their peak by mid-May.

The decision will be taken by a high-level meeting, which will be chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in the next few days. Current orders on the night curfew are valid only until April 30.

According to sources, the Health Department has submitted a report to the state government on the number of active cases, number of deaths and number of cases recovered.

Home Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali reviewed the situation with top police officials based on the Health Department report.

The Home Department will submit its recommendations to the Chief Minister by Thursday.

The high-level meeting, sources said, will also come up with an action plan to vaccinate all those who are 18 years of age or older.

Statistics show that by now only about 2% of the total population was vaccinated and the program needed to be accelerated.
Meanwhile, the chief minister, who is recovering from covid-19, tested negative in the antigen test.

According to the doctors who attending on him the RT-PCR test report will be available only on Thursday, on the basis of that it will decide whether to hold a virtual meeting or physically attend the meeting.
