Rs 7 crore has been sanctioned for Bonalu Celebration to lal darwaza temple in old city.

HYDERABAD: To celebrate the annual Bonalu festival on August 1, in a grand manner at Lal Darwaza Mahankali temple in Old city of Hyderabad, the Telangana state government has sanctioned Rs seven crore.

Goddess Simhavahini Mahankali abode in this temple and since many decades, Bonalu being celebrating with pomp and gaiety On the lines of Ujjaini Mahakali in Secunderabad and Jagadambika temples at Golconda Fort, in the city.

On Monday, Telangana minister for animal husbandry, Talasani Srinivas Yadav has convened a meeting on arrangements, with the officials concerned and announced allocation of Rs seven crore for Bonalu celebrations at this Lal Darwaza temple.

The minister also specifically asked the officials to follow Covid-pandemic ‘standard operating procedure’ (SoP) like social distance and masks at the time of offerin Bonams to goddess, at the temple.

Minister also suggested playing with SoP norms through public announcement, too. Barricades have to be put up at the temple to maintain queue lines and sanitization must take up in and around the temple, said the minister.

Talasani said that silk robes will be presented to the temple on behalf of the Telangana government.

Over two lakh devotees are expecting to visit the temple and offer Bonalu, this year. Devotees were restricted to take part in offering Bonalu in 2020 due to amid pandemic situation.
