Hyderabad: A watchman killed his 22-month-old son by slitting his throat with a knife after stabbing his wife with the same weapon at Moinabad.
The woman was stated to be in a critical condition.
According to the police, the suspect D Ramesh (28) got married to Shobha (22) of Shadnagar two years ago and the couple had a child, Dinesh (22 months). It was the second marriage for Shobha, who had a four-year-old son from her previous marriage.
The incident took place at Keetharapalli village in Moinabad. The family was celebrating Shobha’s birthday and all of them had consumed alcohol.
“An argument took place between Ramesh and Shobha during which he took a knife and stabbed her repeatedly. Later he slit the child’s throat, resulting in his death,” said N Prakash Reddy, DCP (Shamshabad).
The police said the man suspected the fidelity of his wife and often picked up quarrels with her. Efforts are on to nab Ramesh, who is absconding.
