Two arrested,110 kg of ganja seized at abdullapurmet by rachaKonda police.

Hyderabad: Two persons, who were allegedly smuggling marijuana in a truck, were arrested at Abdullapurmet by the Rachakonda Special Operations team and the local police on Friday. The police seized 110 kilograms of ganja and the truck.
Acting on a tip, the SOT team waved down the truck at Abdullapurmet and on checking, found the driver Lambaram Solanki (24) and Krishna Ram (24) of Rajasthan smuggling the contraband after concealing it under bags of grains. Rachakonda Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat said Solanki and Krishna Ram were into the illegal business for the last few years.

They had bought the contraband for Rs.5,000 a kg from Masada Pedda Balanna (32) of Visakhapatnam and were planning to hand it over to one Rasheed of Uttar Pradesh at Rs.10,000 a kilogram
Bhagwat said that in the last five years, the Rachakonda Police had booked 160 cases against drug traffickers and seized around 8,000 kilograms of the drugs. The PD Act was invoked against 66 persons.

“We are maintaining surveillance on hotspots in the Rachakonda areas. A surveillance is also maintained on the Outer Ring Road to check illegal transport of the ganja from Andhra Pradesh to other States via Telangana,” he said.
