UGC ordered to allow 50%students in colleges

Hyderabad: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued instructions for the inaugrating of universities and colleges. they said that universities must ensure not more than 50 per cent of the total students are present at a time.

According to the UGC guidelines, very few hostels can be opened in strict compliance with safety and health regulations. Not only that, only one student will allowed to stay in the hostel room. with symptoms of covid-19 students are not allowed to stay in hostel.

Guidelines from UGC guidelines,if student wish,they can study online from home and cannot attend any class.the institute can provide online study material and e-resources accessible for reading of such students said union educational minister Ramesh pokhriyal ‘Nishank’.

other than science ,technology and research online classes will continue for all programs. Online and distance education will continue to be a priority and will be further enhanced.

The UGC has passed new guidelines for reopening universities and colleges after nearly seven months of lockdown. With the lockdown in mind, the UGC had twice before issued guidelines. The UGC issued instructions for the first on April 29 and second time on July 6. The guidelines covered many important topics such as online education, conducting exams, admission process, academic calendar. The current guidelines have also been approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Interior. These guidelines can be adopted by educational institutions according to government guidelines and local conditions.

The opening of educational institutions is being accelerated. In view of the spread of Covid-19, the state and central state governments have also been consulted to open universities and colleges outside the containment zone. Educational institutions can be opened across the country in a systematic manner after consultation with the state and union territories.

In order to open educational institutions, the UGC guidelines must be followed. For this, the UGC has developed a Standardized Procedure (SOP), which must be followed. The UGC has made all the rules and regulations flexible so that there is no hindrance in conducting academic work.
